Velvet Announces Partnership with National Charity

Velvet Communications is proud to announce that it will be working with national charity, Depaul UK, throughout 2011.

The team at Velvet will provide pro bono PR and media relations support to the charity that helps young people who are homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged as part of the company's new Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

While Depaul UK is a national charity, a huge amount of the work it undertakes is concentrated in the North East of England and so is a perfect fit with Velvet that is currently based in the North East but working nationally with its clients.

Elizabeth Eddy, Director, Velvet Communications says: "We are a rapidly expanding company with a vision to become the foremost PR consultancy in the North and to this end we wanted to create a CSR programme that we are proud of and that truly represents our values. Working closely with Depaul UK is the first of many steps in ensuring we support our local and wider community and operate to the highest possible standards in all aspects of our business."

Further details about the company's CSR pledges will be unveiled in the coming weeks as it finalises its programme, which will encompass charitable associations and environmental practices among other issues.

Velvet Secures Consumer Contracts

Velvet Communications has secured two long term, high profile contracts with Harland Corporation and iexerci.se, which will see the PR company deliver strategic consumer support to both brands.

Harland Corporation is one of the UK's leading online hair and beauty retailers and iexerci.se is an online health and fitness resource designed to provide users with diet and exercise support.

The team at Velvet has been appointed to deliver national media relations support but will also work with the brands on a number of marketing initiatives.

Speaking of the appointments, Elizabeth Eddy, Director, Velvet Communications says: "The new accounts are particularly exciting for the business as I am keen to create a consumer division in 2011 and to have added two dynamic new businesses to our portfolio is a great platform from which we can build going into the new year. We have extensive consumer expertise in the team and I myself am relishing the opportunity to support both businesses as my career began in consumer relations in London so this is especially exciting.

"In addition to creating and implementing national consumer focused campaigns designed to increase sales and raise brand awareness we will be providing corporate PR support and working strategically with both businesses as they continue to evolve and expand."

Speaking of his appointment, Sam says: "I am delighted to have joined the team at Velvet after recently graduating from the University of Newcastle. The agency has a proven track record in delivering dynamic campaigns for its wide range of clients and I am very much looking forward to developing my skill set and supporting the team as the business continues to grow."

Velvet Welcomes EEIF Contract

Velvet Communications has been appointed to develop and manage the Energy and Environmental Industries Forum, a new network aimed at helping businesses, organisations and agencies in the energy and environmental industries to meet, connect, trade and grow.

The Energy and Environmental Industries Forum (EEIF) has been created by RENEW, the organisation that facilitates and delivers commercial energy and environmental technology projects across North East England. Velvet currently works with RENEW, delivering a high profile strategic media relations and PR campaign and was appointed to deliver the EEIF project as a result of this successful association.

The Forum has been designed exclusively to support the continued growth of the sector, which is playing an increasingly significant role in the region and the continued drive for a Low Carbon transition will bring additional opportunities for local businesses leading to further inward investment and new job opportunities.

The EEIF will connect the diverse range of companies operating in the sector through a comprehensive directory, tender alert service, an extensive events programme, jobs database, daily news feed and weekly newsletter, as well as advice and support relating to procurement, funding and business development.

Speaking of the appointment, Elizabeth Eddy, Director, Velvet Communications says: "The EEIF represents an extension of our working relationship with RENEW and that we have been selected to develop and manage the daily operation of the network is testament to our commitment to delivering the highest possible standards of service and becoming an integral part of the teams and organisations we work with. I firmly believe that our expertise in the environmental and renewables sector will help support the EEIF as it continues to evolve and expand and that our reputation for delivering business focused results will ensure the network has a commercially sustainable future.

We are developing a reputation for providing PR consultancy and support to the environmental or green sector through our work with RENEW and its associates, the North East Sustainable Resources Board and now through the EEIF. We hope to continue to build upon this expertise and work with other businesses and organisations in the sector."

Velvet Drives megabus.com Marketing Campaign

Velvet Communications has been tasked by megabus.com –the UK’s leading provider of low cost intercity travel - to provide PR support as it launches an affiliate marketing programme.

megabus.com offers intercity coach and rail travel from as little as £1 + 50p booking fee and operates its business predominantly online, making it an ideal candidate to benefit from an affiliate marketing network. Velvet will work closely with the leading trade titles spanning the marketing, technology and leisure sectors to garner interest and secure affiliates.

Promotions will also be devised for each trade sector and daily blogs and posts will be created and uploaded to affiliate marketing sites too, to further stimulate interest and create a ‘word of mouth campaign’ among the affiliate community.

Jodine Milne, UK Marketing Manager, megabus.com says: “We have been planning to enter the online affiliate marketing arena for some time, as megabus.com is predominantly an online business and is therefore ideally placed to benefit from an affiliate network. As the company continues to evolve its offer and expand into new markets, we were keen to add affiliate marketing to our range of communication and evaluate its benefits in relation to the UK market initially.

“We have worked with Velvet on a number of initiatives and have called upon their expertise once more to support our activity and raise awareness of our brand in the affiliate marketing arena.”

Speaking of the project, Elizabeth Eddy, Director, Velvet Communications says: “We are very excited to be working with megabus.com on this project and believe that our expertise will help support the launch of the programme and indeed its growth and evolution in the future. This project is one of many that we are currently working on with the company and is testament to our commitment to delivering real results that are having a clear and direct impact upon our clients' business.”
